Genetic & Diagnostic Testing & Our Health Warranty...
Standard Poodles
To assure that you receive an extremely healthy puppy, we go above and beyond to make sure that all of our dogs we use in our breeding program have been thoroughly tested for (and clear of):

-
Degenerative myelopathy (DM) (by DNA)
-
Neonatal Encephalopathy/ataxia (NE) (by DNA)
-
von Willebrand's Disease (vWD) (by DNA)
-
Canine coat color (A and K loci)
-
Eyes/Heart (Vet Checked and/or CERF)
-
Improper Coat (IC) (by DNA)
-
OFA and/or PennHip elbows and hips (must have a satisfactory grade)

The genetic tests by DNA are registered with Vetnostics and all testing is kept updated. We make sure that all puppies we produce in our breeding program will not have any of these diseases and assuring that our Premier Bernedoodles come from standard poodles and Bernese mountain dogs that are the best. We only use standard poodles that are free and clear of the genetic markers we test for and we offer a 2 year health warranty against these diseases.

Bernese Mountain Dogs
Like our Premier Standard Poodles, we also thoroughly health test our Bernese Mountain Dogs as well for the following (and again make sure they will produce bernedoodle puppies that will not have the following diseases):
-
Degenerative Myelopathy (DMSOD1-A and DMSOD1-B) (by DNA)
-
von Willebrand's Disease (vWD) (by DNA)
-
Neonatal Encephalopathy/ataxia (NE) (by DNA)
-
Eyes/Heart (Vet checked and/or CERF)
-
OFA and/or PennHip elbows and hips (must have a satisfactory grade)

Bernedoodle Puppies
Lastly, we verify the health of each Premier Bernedoodle puppy by parentage (we have all of our dams and sires thoroughly tested for the genetic markers above and do precerts on hips and elbows) as they undergo rigorous genetic testing to assure that your Premier Bernedoodle puppy will be clear of these diseases.

In addition to the tests above, we also do a thorough blood screening analysis of our adults to insure that your puppy will be the healthiest they can be. We can never absolutely guarantee non-shedding but they should be low to nonshedding, and, we obviously can't give a 100% guarantee on health but we have gone way above and beyond with the diagnostic tests (and pedigree analyses as well as looking to make sure that the COI is below 1 which is exceptional) we do to make sure that your puppy is very, very healthy and therefore we offer a 2-year genetic health guarantee for any of the genetic markers we test for.

We do not warranty against issues that could be classified as cosmetic or various cancers that can be acquired due to environmental exposures (two most common are lawn treatment and flea/tick/heartworm medications, both of which have been linked to neuromuscular disorders and cancers).

Dangers of Flea, Tick & Heartworm Medications
Flea/Tick/Heartworm Treatments: We don’t personally administer pesticide control (flea/tick) in the form of the various monthly tablets, liquid/gel topical applications, collars, and the like. Definitely do not use any flea collars (eg Seresto) or other products that contain isoxazoline (Bravecto, Bravecto Plus, Nexgard, Simparica, Simparica Trio, Credelio, Revolution Plus) as they all contain Isoxazoline which is a neurotoxin and there are many class action suits against these companies due to continued neurological problems and small cell carcinomas. There’s also several class action law suits due to a high prevalence of cancer associated with these products and impacts to human health. These are pure toxins that are meant to stay as a residue in the dogs systemic circulation. Instead we add a tablespoon of Bragg’s unfiltered apple cider vinegar to 4 cups of filtered water and keep adding it as we refill after each cleaning and refill at the same ratio. We also add a small pinch of dry garlic once they are 5 months old (just a small pinch once per day) to their morning meal or can add a small amount of fresh cut up garlic to the breakfast food (again after 6 months…see attached picture for how much fresh to give). Check with us for amounts once they hit 6 months with their weight and we can confirm the amount. We have never, ever had fleas, ticks or heartworm but you’ll need to do your own health risk assessment. If you must use monthly control we would recommend using the least toxic:
Advantage II (fleas)
Plain Interceptor (heartworm and other worms)
Some other natural means to use along with the garlic and Bragg’s apple cider vinegar are various flea and tick products by Wondercide as these are all natural based and I would use this in conjunction with organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar and garlic.

Good article explaining the dangers of typical flea and tick meds: https://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/new-fda-warning-about-flea-and-tick-medications/
The FDA has issued warnings about the potential for neurologic adverse events, including muscle tremors, ataxia (loss of coordination), and seizures, in dogs and cats treated with medications in the isoxazoline class along with elevated risk of cancer (including acquired forms of lymphoma).
Here’s one of many peer reviewed research papers demonstrating the dangers of isoxazoline and there is now ample evidence that both elevated liver enzymes and seizures can be associated with isoxazoline.
